valued customer with the highest standard of customer service possible.
We understand that privacy of personal information is a concern for the
majority of our customers, and we address this concern seriously.
After the 21st December 2001, new provisions to the Commonwealth Privacy
Act 1988 came into effect. The new provisions set out a number of principles
that relate specifically to the protection of your personal information.
This document outlines important information concerning the privacy of
our customers' personal information, we recommend you read the document
carefully and check the South East Queensland Community Telco website regularly for updates.
The sort of information South East Queensland Community Telco collects:
South East Queensland Community Telco
only collects personal information that is necessary for it to perform
one or more of its functions or activities. The personal information
that South East Queensland Community Telco holds about you depends on the services, provided
by South East Queensland Community Telco, that you utilize. Your personal information may include:

If you wish to pay for your accounts and/or services via a credit card
or direct debit facility, South East Queensland Community Telco may need to collect your credit card or
direct debit details. These details may include:
- The credit card number
- The expiry date
- The type of card
- The name on the credit card
- The credit card verification number
- The account name
- The account branch name
- The account branch number
- The account number
How South East Queensland Community Telco collects the information:
There are a number
of ways that South East Queensland Community Telco collects personal information, these include:
- Direct methods include the completion of an application
form, via telephone or fax or via an on-line application.
The collection of this information generally relates to
the application for services, but can also apply to an
application for additional services.
- We can also source information from third parties such
as related companies, credit-reporting agencies, or from
your representatives.
- Publicly available information services
- Any organizations listed under "Disclosure of personal
information".
Primarily, South East Queensland Community Telco collects your personal information; however a duly appointed
reseller of South East Queensland Community Telco's may initially collect your personal information.
How South East Queensland Community Telco uses the information it collects:
South East Queensland Community Telco may use your personal information in a number of ways; this includes,
but is not limited to:
- Allowing us to properly identify you.
- To provide you with the services that you've requested.
- To manage and administer any accounts or services that
you may have with South East Queensland Community Telco. This includes billing for these
services and the collection of any debts.
- The investigation of complaints in relation to your service.
- The investigation and fixing of faults in relation to
your service.
- The use of your information for internal marketing, in
order to keep you informed of new products and services
or changes to existing products and services.
- Internal research and analysis in order to give South East Queensland Community Telco
a better understanding of our market, our customers and
their views on the services that South East Queensland Community Telco provides.
From time to time South East Queensland Community Telco may offer you promotional and marketing material
that may further enhance or improve your services with us. Whilst we
give our customers the opportunity to accept or refuse such material,
in some circumstances it may be impractical to obtain prior consent from
you. We will provide you with the opportunity to be removed from any
future promotional or marketing communications, in the context of any
such messages.
You can notify us in advance if you wish to be excluded from any promotional
or marketing initiatives, such as mentioned above. If this is the case,
please notify us of your wish to be excluded, by sending an email to sales@seqtelco.com.au or
calling us on 13 36 36.
Disclosure of Personal Information:
iTEL Community Telco Limited does not sell, rent
or trade your personal information to any third parties.
As outlined in the aforementioned "How South East Queensland Community Telco collects the
information", South East Queensland Community Telco may disclose your personal information
to specific third parties. When such disclosures are made,
the parties to which we disclose your personal information
are either covered by contracts which protect your personal
information or are required to comply with all relevant laws
including the Privacy Act 1988.
Some of the organisations we may disclose information to:
- Upstream service providers
- Outsourced billing companies
- Outsourced debt-recovery companies
- Outsourced installation or repair service companies
- Your duly appointed representatives (either an appointed
agent or legal agent)
- Any professional advisory services we use, including
our legal advisors, auditors or accountants
- Any government and regulatory body or authority, as mandated
or otherwise authorised by law
- Credit-reporting and fraud-checking agencies
- Credit providers for credit related purposes such as
creditworthiness, credit rating, credit provision and financing

The security of Personal Information:
South East Queensland Community Telco
takes the security of your personal information seriously
and will take all reasonable precautions to ensure that all
data collected is accurate and up-to-date, and stored in
a secure environment where only authorised persons can access
the data.
South East Queensland Community Telco cannot guarantee the security of any transmission via
the Internet and as such can't be held responsible for any
unauthorised access of your personal information delivered
to you, or received from you via the Internet.
Access to your Personal Information:
By law
you have the right to see or obtain a copy of your personal
information as held by South East Queensland Community Telco. South East Queensland Community Telco will handle any request
for personal information in accordance with the National
Privacy Principles.
There may be certain circumstances in which South East Queensland Community Telco may refuse
to give you access to your personal information, these circumstances
include:
- The request for access is frivolous or vexatious.
- Access would be unlawful.
- Denial of access is required, authorised, or excused
by law.
Correcting and Updating your Personal Information:
South East Queensland Community Telco
takes all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information
is complete, accurate, and up-to-date, in addition to being
consistent across the services that you may have with South East Queensland Community Telco.
We require you to keep South East Queensland Community Telco up-to-date on any changes to
your personal information.
To assist us in maintaining accurate personal information,
we ask that you:
- Inform us of any errors or omissions you find or are
aware of such as your name, address, contact details, or
any other personal information.
- Inform us of any changes to your personal details in
the event of a; change of address, change of name, or a
change to any other personal details.
